After many years of thinking, wanting and dreaming of building my own online community to share my experiences and frustrations, I am now happy to write the first post with many more to come.
I will be discussing various techniques, challenges and stories that related to bilingualism and multiculturalism.

I will be discussing various techniques, challenges and stories that related to bilingualism and multiculturalism.

My two children were born in the United States, but since that first day that they were born, I have wanted them to speak, read and write Spanish as well as English. Learning one language well can be challenging enough, but how about two? It is simpler than it seems, and I will be sharing the tips and tricks to accomplish it.

Consistency is number one, as it is with any other discipline. Don’t feel you are failing just because you hear conversations such as:

- Hi, mami!

- I don’t want to go to my colegio hoy.

Is that Spanglish or a brand new language? This is when you calmly answer.

- Si, hijo. Hay que ir al colegio; es por tu bien.

You give them a kiss goodbye, and move on.
